On March 8th of every year, the world celebrates International Women’s Day, and this year’s theme is #BreakTheBias, which highlights the importance of promoting a world free from bias, stereotypes, and discrimination — a world where differences are valued and celebrated.
A diverse, fair, and inclusive world requires that we are all responsible for breaking bias in our communities, workplaces, schools, colleges, universities, and everywhere we exist.
It is worth noting that Al-Nahda participated in this campaign by creating an illuminated structure symbolizing the importance of breaking bias, with the aim of raising awareness about the impact of bias on achieving gender equality. The public was invited to visit the installation, take photos while crossing their arms in an X shape — representing the “Break the Bias” message — and reflect on the concept.
Additionally, participants answered various questions from different areas of life, which are often influenced by bias and inequality, helping individuals discover their own levels of bias in these aspects.
These activities continued for seven days, giving everyone the opportunity to participate. Sincere thanks and appreciation to all who contributed to the success of this campaign and believed in Al-Nahda’s mission to support women’s participation, preserve their dignity, and develop their capabilities to ensure their inclusion in decision-making.
